GFWC Edenton Woman’s Club
Who We Are
Our clubwomen are the heart of the community in which they live and work. By Living the Volunteer Spirit, clubwomen transform lives each day, not simply with monetary donations, but with hands-on tangible projects that provide immediate impact.
The General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), one of the oldest women's volunteer organizations, seeks to build global communities where people unite in diversity and dedicate their service to changing lives. GFWC celebrates the engagement of people of all backgrounds and believes in fostering an inclusive, equitable climate and culture where community members can thrive.
The GFWC Edenton Woman’s Club was organized in St. Paul’s Church Parish House as a Junior Woman’s Club in May 1946 with 44 charter members. In 1951, the group became the Edenton Woman’s Club, affiliated with the North Carolina Federation of Women’s Clubs, which Sallie Southall Cotten had helped to form in 1902 on the campus of Salem College in Winston-Salem.
The club’s motto is “Service Above Self ”.
Membership
Our membership consists of a general business meeting and topical speakers followed by fellowship and lunch.
GENERAL MEETINGS are held 1st Wed of every month at 11:00 am at a designated location each year. There are no July or August Meetings.
GFWC EWC members pay annual dues.
